Chiropractic has been a big part of the performances of the Olympic athletes competing in the 2016 Summer Games in Rio.
Did you get to see on NBC on Sunday, August 14th, the Swedish golfer Henrik Stenson? He was being adjusted by his Chiropractor on the ground in the middle of the fairway. The unknowing media billed as a “massage”, yet it was a Chiropractic adjustment that helped Mr. Stenson to bring home a Silver medal.
Later, Team USA Track & Field 200 and 400 Meter runner Lashawn Merritt gave his Chiropractor, Dr. Dave Pascal, a huge shout out on NBC. He thanked him for his Chiropractic adjustments being essential for peak performance.
So does the health advantages of Chiropractic care on medal winning athletes from multiple sports and various countries differ from the benefits that you can achieve through Chiropractic? NO! They are the same.
Why?
As humans, we all have a Nervous System. This Nervous System communicates with all the muscles, ligaments, tendons and organs in the body. If they don’t work, you don’t work!
Do you have spinal tension and muscular stress in your body? Is it a result of all of your personal and professional commitments in today’s fast-paced world? If the answer is yes, you are the same as an Olympian.
The stressors on an athletes’ body and mind are different than ours. Yet they can create the same deleterious effects on the physical form. Spinal and muscular pressure can cause dysfunction in the nervous system, decreased muscle function and altered biomechanics. I, Dr. Jeannette M. Anderson, have worked with high performance athletes. I’ve found you don’t have to be an Olympian to win your own gold medals with a lifestyle of Chiropractic care and wellness!
These benefits take time. Through repetitive adjustments and biomechanical correction, we can improve an individual’s performance. It’s a program of care similar to training for an event, whether it be a marathon, an event for charity, an active trip, Ironman or the ability to get up in the morning without pain. It took time to get this way and it takes time to train the body how to perform and be well.
How do I know?
I have 26 years of experience in high performance care. Also, I have been the Team USA Chiropractor for the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2013 Medical Director for the US Paracycling World Championships, USOC Lake Placid Volunteer Medical Staff, and Medical Team Chiropractor for the National High School Track & Field Championships for over 20 years. I have run almost a dozen marathons and am an avid biker, skier and hiker. My body is at peak performance because I live a healthy lifestyle where Chiropractic care is the core essential of my performance program.
So a big shout out for all the Olympians in Rio that utilize the benefits of Chiropractic adjustments for performance and Olympic medals. An even bigger shout out for the Chiropractors who, as part of the medical team help the athletes live their dreams… AND YOU CAN TOO!
